On the Beat: Fresno Nightcrawlers

I was doing research, on the most recent events in the cryptozoology world, when I came across a reel of debunkers attempting to debunk the Fresno Nightcrawler. In the video, they created a puppeteer replica that moved similar to that of the Fresno Nightcrawler, and attempted to recreate the original footage in order to debunk it. While they were able to debunk one video, they admit that the original footage could not be recreated through their methods and therefore could not be debunked. I checked what the current discussion was on this video through it’s comment section. It looked like many people jumped to conclusions and assumed the cryptid was debunked because one of the videos was debunked, however, seemed to glaze over the fact that the original footage was still not proven false. When I peered deeper, it seemed a few commenters still had things to say against this assumption. I came across one commenter who was trying to recount his personal experience with a Fresno Nightcrawler. Despite the snide comments from outsiders, suggesting that he was mistaken, he stood on business about what he witnessed. This piqued my curiosity, so I joined the comment section, asking him more about his experience. We decided to take the discussion away from public input so his story could be heard fully. And while he wishes for his identity to remain anonymous, he was kind enough to share his story with me, so I could share his story with y’all.

“It was the summer of 2020, and my friend who lived next to the park was throwing a barbeque, we were at the park for a couple of hours when it started reaching sunset. While we were eating, one of my homeboys starts panicking and points out in the distance
‘What the fuck is that!?’
As I turn around, I see the white figure across the field from us, running across. But it was a weird run. Almost like a gallop, but with messed up legs. No arms or face. I remember trying to process what I was seeing, but I couldn’t really compare it to anything I’d seen in real life. When I saw that it was getting to the other side of the park, I decided to run to my car A.S.A.P. Darkness was creeping up and I didn’t want to stick around any longer. My friends saw me book it and followed me as well. Afterwards, we got cleansed by a witch, who was my one of my homeboy’s sisters. She explained that this had to do with Indians and we needed to cleanse and apologize, and we did.”

I believe the witch was right. When I asked about the location of this event. The event’s location was revealed to be Wappo Park, in St. Helena, California. Which is also known for its Indian Burial grounds. The witness knew there was paranormal activity there before and shared with me similar events of the paranormal variety, Including the story of the ghost of an old woman, who would walk the garden area at night. He later sent me some videos of the area, during the day, to show the layout of the scene and how close they were (50 ft. away from each other) and how tall it was (7-8 ft.). This is the closest I have ever heard of anyone being to a Fresno Nightcrawler.
Perhaps this encounter could reveal some key insights into the behavioral patterns and motives of the cryptid. I may have to collect more stories (and perhaps launch my own investigation) to see if there is a pattern.
